I was a baby boomer growing up in Orange County during the 1950's and 1960's, I couldn't help but be influenced by the modern art and design of the times. With Disneyland just around the corner and Los Angeles a short drive away, I was surrounded by mid-century art and modern design. Our house was furnished with Danish Modern furniture in the living room and dining room. In the kitchen was the iconic molded white plastic round table with four white plastic shell chairs equipped with aqua plastic cushions. I grew up in a time that was modern in every sense of that word. That which now is considered retro and vintage, iconic! There were always Siamese Cats in our house.
I have always been an artist. In college I was fascinated with the graphic designs of the Push Pin Studio’s artists, Seymour Chwast and Milton Glaser. After I graduated in the early 1970's with a bachelor’s degree in art with an emphasis in graphic design, I worked as a freelance graphic designer for a short time. Later, I explored working in clay, photography, fabric, glass, wood, and mixed media. Currently working with acrylic paint on canvas.
Currently, I paint with acrylics in an abstract and expressionistic style, with my Uncle Le Roy Neiman’s paintings as my inspiration. Also I have a fondness towards the work of Marc Chagall.
I believe art should be a personal visual expression. Creating and sharing my current work brings me much happiness. My goal is to continue to evolve as a contemporary modern artist and share my work with a growing, wider audience.
